Dinghy Racing

All members are welcome to join in the racing at BHYC.  The year's race series and individual races are summarised in the tables below.  Apart from the Icebreaker Series, which is for Slow Handicap boats only, and other special races as indicated in the racing instructions, dinghies will race in two separate groups; Fast Handicap (PY 1249 and under) and Slow Handicap (PY 1250 and over), with 5 minutes between starts.   We start the season proper at the Easter Weekend with a series of four races.  The idea is a quick blast hopefully in some good April sunshine.  As last season all the series races have been put on the Sundays with Saturdays kept for the one off competitions.  The Autumn Saturdays have not been allocated at the present time.  More information will follow throughout the season.

This year is also an Olympic Year and with the sailing taking place in Weymouth we hope to have the big screen in the club house showing what is happening each day.  We also have two special races sailing Olympic courses just prior to the event to get you in the mood.  This is also “Push the Boat Out Day” when the RYA wants to get as many boats on the water as possible.  So please come and join in.

Regattas

BHYC partipicipates in the programme of regattas organised by the East Wight Combined Clubs (EWCC).  Event details can be found on the EWCC web site accessed via the 'useful links' button above.  BYHC will organise hold their Club Regatta, open to all members of EWCC Clubs, on September 1st/2nd in 2012.
