The main events are advertised in the year programme booklet as Social Evenings, Usually these evenings are arranged on a Saturday and we try to include our caterers in these evenings so they do tend to manifest as a dinner dance. During the year we decided what sort of other functions we think the members would like; these again vary, this year we have tried to include a Ladies' Night, commencing with a cosmetic evening, then a fashion show. The last was an aromatherapy evening where members and guests could experience different types of treatment for a small donation for each.

We also invite speakers to come to the Club and try to have these on a Friday evening, or a quiz evening. These evenings there would be a fork supper available if required. We also take part in the R.N.L.I Quiz which is an inter-Island event including other Sailing Clubs on the Island; these take place during the winter months, needless to say why.

All the functions are advertised on the Club notice board and in the BHYC Newsletter, which members can receive by e-mail.

Social Committee

The Social Committee provides, and is responsible for, the social activities of the Club. It consists of a Chairman (a Flag Officer), two members appointed by the Management Committee, and up to six co-opted members. In addition, all other sub-committee chairmen, the Hon. Secretary and the Hon. Treasurer are ex-officio voting members.
