Welcome to the Brading Haven Yacht Club Wayfarer Section

Link to Wayfarer Class Association

We have an active fleet of Wayfarers at BHYC, with up to seven boats racing. Remember, you can guarantee some assistance from fellow Wayfarers, and if you are rusty on the racing rules and procedures help will be on hand for that too.

The Club Cruises for all dinghies and keel boats on Sunday July 13th and Monday August 25th will also be of interest to Wayfarer sailors.

If you have any other ideas or suggestions then do please contact me and I will circulate them.

........... ..........Wayfarer News

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Wayfarer Class. We shall be running a series of eight races within the BHYC Fast Handicap programme for the coveted Wayfarer Cup and a special BHYC 50th Anniversary Championship on Saturday June 21st (see below). This is also being advertised on the Class website so expect some mainland opposition!

We shall also be attempting a circumnavigation of the Isle of Wight. This will be on Sunday 29 th June (Reserve Sunday 27 th July). There will be a planning and training session on Saturday May 17th. It will be necessary to have buoyancy test and a practice capsize drill. A minimum of 2 sets of reefing points on the mainsail will also be required. More details to follow.

There will also be a Club Cruise for all dinghies and keel boats on Monday August 25 th (Bank Holiday).

Click here to see the results of the Wayfarer Championship sailed on Saturday June 21st

Note: The circumnavigation could not take place on June 29th because of high winds; a second attempt will take place on the reserve date, July 27th.

.

Best Wishes and Good Sailing,

Roger, W 10222
