BHYC Mermaid Sponsored Regatta 2026
The rescheduled Dinghy Regatta took place on Sunday 13th September. The wind was ideal coming from the west, however it was a little overcast. The numbers participating was disappointing, however, those who took part had fun! One race was held for each class and the courses were kept simple. The keel boat regatta took place on 30th August and the report was in a previous newsletter. The presentation took place in the club.

Solent Scow Championship
Sixteen Solent Scows entered the re-scheduled Solent Scow Championship organised this year by Bembridge SC with RIB assistance from Brading Haven YC on Saturday evening. Unlike the originally programmed day (26 July) when racing could not take place due to strong winds, conditions were really rather pleasant with a F3 SSW breeze. Dictated by the tides the 18:30 start seemed quite popular and drew out the best Scow sailors from both

Great Bembridge Paper Boat Race 2026
Brading Haven Yacht Club hosted the Great Bembridge Paper Boat Race again this year, with visitors and Club Members joining in the fun. Bembridge Harbour Authority organised building sessions and ferried contestants and spectators to the Club pontoons - all part of the Family Fun Weekend. BHYC Summer Ball 2026
What a fun and entertaining night was enjoyed by Members and their guests last Saturday at the Club's annual Summer Ball. The Clubhouse was decked out with beautifully hand-crafted circus themed decorations and table settings made by Club Member Andrew Wilson-Jenner, who also made waistcoats and jackets for our Hospitality Team, who looked after us so well On arrival we were treated to some great table magic from Huxley before a truly delicious 3 course

Rib Safari to Newtown Creek
Club members had great weather and flat seas on Friday 17th July for a Safari to Newtown Creek. Four ribs cruised at 16knots and took a little over an hour and twenty minutes to arrive in Newtown where there was plenty of wildlife to see. We saw Harbour Seals and Grey Seals, Black Headed Gulls, Great Black-Backed Gulls , Buzzards, Swans on their nests, Little Egrets, Ringed Plovers, Oystercatchers, Terns, Curlews, Grey Herons, Cormorants

Rowing Update 2
Progress continues with the arrival of the second of the River Teign rowing boats last Tuesday, along with all the oars, rudders and other gear. Several members have already volunteered to carry out the preparation work needed before they can go in the water, and we are expecting to get the first boat in the water in the very near future. The Swan Cruise to Royal Victoria Yacht Club,12th May.
Seven Swans a Swimming! Seven Swans and two ribs made the epic journey to Fishbourne. The weather was ideal with a gentle westerly wind that meant the fleet were able to tack out to No Mans Land Fort, avoiding the shipping lane and back towards Ryde Pier avoiding hovercrafts and Wightlink Riders!
