Adult Level 2 - dinghy course

RYA Level 2 Basic Skills
at Brading Haven Yacht Club

Requirements:

Open to young people and adults (16+) with a Level 1. Participants should be water confident, able to swim, and bring suitable clothing for outdoor conditions (including footwear that can get wet).Key Learning Points Covered:

• Rigging, launching and recovering a dinghy independently
• Sailing upwind (close-hauled) and downwind (running)
• Tacking and gybing with control
• Improving boat handling and sail trim
• Ropework and securing the boat
• Basic collision avoidance and sailing rules

Outcome & Progression:
By the end of the course, you'll be a competent sailor able to sail in light to moderate winds without supervision. You'll be awarded the RYA Level 2 certificate. From here, you can progress to RYA Level 3 Better Sailing, start racing, or sail independently at your club.
