RYA Level 3 Better Sailing
at Brading Haven Yacht Club

Requirements:
Open to young people and adults (16+) with a Level 2. Participants should be water confident, able to swim, and bring suitable clothing for outdoor conditions (including footwear that can get wet).

Course Duration:

This is a 2-day course running from 9:00am 5:00pm each day.

Key Learning Points Covered:

• Improved rigging and efficient boat setup
• Advanced boat handling and control in stronger winds
• Sailing more efficiently upwind and downwind
• Introduction to seamanship skills (e.g. ropework, anchoring awareness)
• Man overboard recovery techniques
• Introduction to racing skills and awareness

Outcome & Progression:
By the end of the course, you'll be a more confident and independent sailor, capable of sailing in a wider range of conditions and making your own decisions on the water. You'll be awarded the RYA Level 3 certificate. From here, you can progress to advanced modules such as Seamanship Skills, Sailing with Spinnakers, or start racing regularly.
