VHF Workshop
is interactive workshop introduces cadets to the fundamentals of VHF radio communication and its importance in safe boating and watersports activities. Designed for young sailors and cadets, the session provides a practical and engaging introduction to using marine radios confidently and responsibly.
Participants will learn about radio etiquette, common marine communication procedures, distress, urgency and safety messages, phonetic alphabet use, and the correct operation of a VHF radio. Through practical exercises and role-play scenarios, cadets will develop confidence in making and receiving radio calls while understanding the vital role communication plays in maritime safety.
The workshop combines theory with hands-on activities, helping cadets build essential seamanship skills and a greater awareness of safety on the water. No previous radio experience is required.
