Future Sailors Program Level 3 Block 3
During the practical sessions on the 8th and 9th, sailors will practise a range of key manoeuvres, including picking up a man overboard, laying an anchor, performing shore landings, mooring, and coming alongside. These skills are essential for safe and controlled boat handling in a variety of real-world situations. Emphasis will be placed on accuracy, communication, and maintaining control of the boat throughout each exercise.
The workshop session on the 10th will focus on communication in double-handed boats. Sailors will learn how to work effectively with a partner, using clear and timely communication to coordinate manoeuvres and improve overall performance. This session will highlight the importance of teamwork, role awareness, and decision-making when sailing with others.
Overall, this week combines practical seamanship with interpersonal skills, helping sailors become more confident, capable, and effective both individually and as part of a team.
