Future Sailors Program Level 3 Block 1
The first week of the BHYC Future Sailors Level 3 Programme is designed to further develop sailors' confidence, independence, and technical understanding on the water. Building on the skills gained in earlier levels, this week introduces more advanced performance techniques and refines core boat handling skills.
During the practical sessions on the 10th and 11th, sailors will focus on the "5 Essentials" of sailingbalance, trim, centreboard use, sail setting, and course made good. These principles are key to improving boat speed, control, and efficiency in a variety of conditions. In addition, sailors will work on developing smooth and controlled tacking and gybing, with an emphasis on timing, coordination, and maintaining boat speed throughout each manoeuvre.
The workshop session on the 12th will focus on advanced ropework. Participants will build on their existing knowledge by learning more complex knots and rope handling techniques, as well as understanding their practical applications in sailing scenarios.
