Do I need to buy a lot of expensive equipment before I or my children can try sailing?

Not at all.  In the summer months, at one of our Open Days or 'Come Sail with Us' taster sessions, you only need a windproof top, soft shoes which you don't mind getting wet, and a buoyancy aid (which you can borrow from the Club).  If you want to start sailing more regularly, you should buy a spray top and your own buoyancy aid, which are not expensive and can be purchased from any Island chandlery.  For dinghy sailing during the colder months, a wet suit or dry suit should be worn.
