RYA Sail Training Week 2026 » RYA Seamanship RYA Start Racing

RYA Seamanship and RYA Start Racing course is a 4 day course.

Seamanship involves refining skills such as coming alongside, being towed, lee shore landing and introduces new skills such as sailing without a rudder and sailing without a centreboard/daggerboard.

Sailors will learn how to handle a boat in all circumstances and solve problems afloat.

This will teach sailors to sail in a seamanship like manner and make the right decisions in moderate conditions.

Start Racing covers key areas: race signals, starting sequences, basic rules (like port/starboard), mark roundings, and boat handling/tuning.

This is ideal preparation for becoming a Dinghy Instructor.
