Rib Safari to Newtown Creek

Club members had great weather and flat seas on Friday 17th July for a Safari to Newtown Creek. Four ribs cruised at 16knots and took a little over an hour and twenty minutes to arrive in Newtown where there was plenty of wildlife to see.

We saw Harbour Seals and Grey Seals, Black Headed Gulls, Great Black-Backed Gulls , Buzzards, Swans on their nests, Little Egrets, Ringed Plovers, Oystercatchers, Terns, Curlews, Grey Herons, Cormorants and plenty of Canada Geese.

Other sightings were a naked motor boater trying to put everyone off their picnic lunch and a smile and a wave from Ellen MacArthur as she sailed past.

The return trip had a comfort break at the Island Sailing Club where every one stopped for refreshment before the last passage back to the club.
