Seven Swans a Swimming!
Seven Swans and two ribs made the epic journey to Fishbourne. The weather was ideal with a gentle westerly wind that meant the fleet were able to tack out to No Mans Land Fort, avoiding the shipping lane and back towards Ryde Pier avoiding hovercrafts and Wightlink Riders!
The fleet included the three club Swans, Scottie, Swanee and Seven as well as Black Swan, Bella, Flying Swan and Frolic, kindly loaned from Nigel Baker. Scottie and Seven made excellent progress and led the way to our destination.
Swanee had an extra crew member with Dougal the Dog, who took it all in his stride!
The fleet made it to Royal Vic in just under three hours, as the wind died coming into the creek.
Refreshments were had by all and the return journey was a very fast run followed by a reach as the wind came up again; a few of the Swans clocked 7 knots on the way back
The expedition was well supported with two club ribs, crewed by the Commodore, Nigel Van Nuffelin with Mark Parkinson plus Alex and Lin Neill.
It was a brilliant fun day and we look forward to doing more of these trips. Thanks to Duncan for organising it and to Jonathan Hoare for the photos - all the photos are in the Gallery section of the website.
