Race Report for Icebreaker 7 - 8

"The forecasts for Sunday 25th February and races 7 and 8 of the Icebreaker series did not look promising, with very strong winds forecast to arrive by about midday.

In the event as conditions in the harbour offered a great sailing breeze as the start time approached the decision was made to race, starting with a short first race and a review after that. In fact it was possible to complete two shortish races in blustery force 4 south to south easterly winds, and, although slightly fewer competitors for this event (probably put off by the forecasts?) The racing was pretty intense, as it has been throughout the series so far, especially in the Scow fleet. Here Martin Palmer continues to dominate with a further two wins; clearly applying the skills learned in sailing in Yarmouth Harbour to racing in Bembridge Harbour!
